Intel Xeon W-3175X
This W-3175X came from China and it delivered. Strong IMC, ran great on the Dominus Extreme platform. Cosmetically it has some scratches on the IHS and thermal paste residue on the back — what can you say, it’s from China. But the silicon is solid and the results speak for themselves.
The W-3175X is the only consumer-facing 28-core chip Intel ever shipped, and it only ever worked in three boards — the ASUS ROG Dominus Extreme, the Gigabyte C621 Aorus Xtreme, and the EVGA SR-3 DARK. It’s not a chip you build a practical workstation around — it’s a statement. Unlocked multiplier, 6-channel DDR4, 48 PCIe lanes, and a 255W TDP that demands serious cooling. There’s nothing else like it.
Paired with the ROG Dominus Extreme — one of only three boards it ever fit, and the one I run.

- My First ROG Dominus Extreme Was $300 and I Flipped It — Spring 2024, $300, and an EKWB VRM block included in the sale. Post code 00 resistor problem. Sold it for profit. Buyer fixed it.
- Why the ROG Dominus Extreme VRM Will Basically Last Forever — 32 teamed IR3555 power stages, a CPU that pulls 400 watts, and barely 12 amps per phase. The Dominus Extreme power delivery is so overbuilt it can't really wear out — here's the math, the board, and why nothing current touches it.
