ASUS ROG Rampage V Extreme + Bitspower ROG Certified Monoblock
Came in as a bundle off eBay — the board, an i7-6950X, and a Bitspower monoblock already mounted, the seller having originally pulled it from a pawn shop listing. It arrived showing POST code 53 (memory init failure) and wouldn’t get past it. Looked dead on arrival, so I negotiated a $90 partial refund assuming the worst.
Then it sat in a corner for weeks. When I finally took a proper run at it, I noticed the Slow Mode switch was on — an LN2 recovery feature that forces a dramatically reduced multiplier. Flipped it off, slotted a known-good DDR4 kit, hit power. Posted first try, straight into UEFI, 6950X at 3.0GHz, everything nominal. The board was healthy the whole time. Second “broken” HEDT flagship I’ve revived with proper diagnosis — these boards are built to survive.
The real prize is the cooling. The mounted block is the Bitspower ROG Certified Full Cover Monoblock (BP-ROGCR5EFCB) — an official ASUS×Bitspower collaboration designed specifically for this board, ROG eye logo engraved into the acrylic, covering CPU, chipset, and VRM in one piece. It’s end-of-life with zero sold comps on eBay. When there are no comps, you’re pricing in the dark — but anyone building a period-correct Rampage V loop won’t find another easily.
X99, LGA 2011-3, i7-6950X installed, Bitspower ROG Certified monoblock. Status: fully alive.

- The Water Block That Was Never Sold in America — A Washington pawn shop. A "broken" X99 flagship. One full-cover monoblock that ASUS officially certified and Bitspower never distributed in North America. How I ended up with one of three cooling products ever certified by the ROG program.
- The ROG Rampage V Extreme That Was Never Actually Dead — POST code 53, a $90 refund, a borrowed RAM kit, and one overlooked switch. The X99 flagship was fine the whole time.
